Exterior Weaving Services

Woven in the Workshop
Mollie’s exterior weaves are bespoke projects, which are made to order and sometimes entail a site visit for a measuring session.   The work is then made off-site at our workshop and delivered for installation. Installation is often done by Mollie and her team, as it allows us to weave a continuous border across all the pieces to finish with a cohesive look.

Woven in Situ
Or your project can be made in situ.  This has various advantages, such as giving greater flexibility in the weave, and more strength and durability to the overall project.  The lay of the land can be taken into consideration, existing features incorporated, slopes, and viewpoints can be accommodated.  Arches, arbours, and decorative elements can be added.

Living Willow
Mollie also undertakes living willow projects in the months of December – March.  Many school children have enjoyed playing in the cool shade of domes, tunnels, arches, and arbours.  They are a wonderful life-long investment, providing a wonderful green space to relax in. The living willow will continue to grow and mature over the years, tended with some important winter management.  These installations have to be planted in the winter when the willow is dormant, ready for the warmth of spring to encourage new growth.

“Mollie is perhaps one of the most joyful humans to work with- she dropped everything to help us - and frankly she made the Chelsea Garden what it was.”

Mollie’s Exterior Commission Process

  • We will take your initial questionnaire, sketches and images you provide us and work together to produce a design you are excited and passionate about. If you can come to the workshop, to handle materials and add to your inspiration, we encourage you to do so. If that is not possible, Mollie can send samples and images to you.

We create each piece to fit your space, so it really helps us to see your location. Whether by visiting you or via photos or video, it will help us collaborate on dimensions and aesthetics.

  • Mollie works with a variety of wonderful natural materials, willow, rush, tree barks and other plant fibres.

Each one has its own joyful unique qualities, they have variation in both colour, and texture so each piece, even if it is in a matching set will have its own character. We respect and honour this and hope you will too.

  • We ask for a 50% deposit. The second 50% payment is due when the work is ready to be shipped, delivered or installed.

  • Visitors are very welcome to come to Mollie’s workshop to see the process of making on a time/day agreed upon. We will also keep in touch with you throughout the process.

  • Depending on the project requirements. If you are working to a deadline please let us know so we can aim to accommodate.

  • We will deliver where possible, at an agreed cost. Sometimes we may need to use an agreed courier service. Shipping will be quoted before the commission/project commences.
